1965: It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones

Composed by Les Reed and Gordon Mills. The song was first offered to English singer Sandie Shaw. Tom Jones recorded what was intended to be a demo for Sandie Shaw but when she heard it she was so impressed with Tom‘s version that she declined the song and recommended that he release it himself. BBC Radio in the UK initially refused to play the song because of the singers sexy image, but it was played by UK pirate radio. The song originally reached No.1 in South Africa and the UK. Following the death of one of the composers (Gordon Mills) in 1986, it was re-released and entered the music chart in both Ireland and the United Kingdom again in 1987, peaking at No.15 and No.17 respectively.
