1998: Frozen By Madonna

Composed by Madonna and Patrick Leonard. Lyrically, the song is about a cold and emotionless man. Said Madonna of the song during an interview “Frozen is built around retaliation, revenge, hate, regret. Everyone’s going to say it is a song about Carlos (her ex-boyfriend) but it’s not really; it’s just about people in general”. In 2005, a judge in Belgium ruled that Frozen was plagiarised from a song by Salvatore Acquaviva and it was banned from the region. This ruling was overturned in 2014. The music video was directed by British video artist Chris Cunningham and portrays Madonna as an ethereal witch-like character with a melancholy persona who transforms into a flock of birds and a black dog. It received an MTV Video Music Award for Best Special Effects.

As well as being a talented music artist, Madonna is also a philanthropist through her Ray of Light charity. Find out more here: http://www.rayoflight.org.
