1965: Stop! In The Name of Love By The Supremes

Composed by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Eddie Holland. Recorded by The Supremes for their sixth studio album. The song reached No.1 in Germany and the USA. Chart-History. The Supremes choreography for this song involved one hand on the hip and the other outstretched in a stop gesture. It was Paul Williams and Melvin Franklin of American vocal group The Temptations that taught the group this routine. The composers were a songwriting team who wrote many songs for Motown and helped define the sound of Motown in the 1960’s.
