1966: This Old Heart of Mine By The Isley Brothers

Composed by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, Eddie Holland and Sylvia Moy. Recorded by The Isley Brothers for their fourth (Motown) studio album. The song reached No.12 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and No.6 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart in the USA. It peaked at No.47 in the UK on its first release. When released again in 1968, it reached No.3, for three weeks. The song was originally intended for The Supremes, who later recorded it for their album The Supremes A’ Go-Go. The single was The Isley Brothers only major hit whilst with Motown, which they left in 1969 to restart their own T-Neck record label. This Old Heart of Mine featured in an episode of the 1980’s television show Moonlighting. Moonlighting/TheIsleyBrothers. The composers were a songwriting team who wrote many songs for Motown and helped define the sound of Motown in the 1960s.
