1978: Sandy By John Travolta

Composed by Louis St. Louis and Scott Simon. Recorded by John Travolta for the film Grease. The song was composed specifically for the film and was not in the original stage production of the musical. It tells of Danny (played by John Travolta) of the T-Birds wishing to see his girlfriend Sandy in the same school, but that the pressure of being a member of the T-Birds has made it impossible to maintain their relationship. He holds out hope that some day, after high school, the two can eventually reunite without those pressures. The song reached No.2 in the UK. It was held off the No.1 spot by Summer Nights, a song also from the Grease soundtrack.
