2005: You’re Beautiful By James Blunt

Composed by Sacha Skarbek, Amanda Ghost, and James Blunt for his debut studio album Back to Bedlam. In an interview with American chat show host Oprah Winfrey, James said of the song “It’s kind of miserable. It was about seeing my ex-girlfriend on the Underground in London with her new man, who I didn’t know existed. She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment, but didn’t do anything about it and haven’t seen each other since.” The video was filmed in Mallorca, Spain. The song was ranked No.7 in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone magazine to identify the ten most annoying songs and has been named as one of the worst songs ever recorded. The song reached No.1 in multiple countries. Chart-History. You’re Beautiful was used in a television advertisement to promote the UK National Lottery, with James Blunt appearing as himself. Said Caroline Frost of The Huffington Post about the advert “James Blunt once again has the last laugh on National Lottery ad. He has consistently proven himself to be not just in the joke but the master of it when it comes to self-mockery”. HuffingtonPost/JamesBlunt.
