1978: Rivers of Babylon by Boney M

Composed by Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton of the Jamaican reggae group The Melodians and first recorded by the same group in 1970. Rivers of Babylon is a Rastafari song. The Melodians original version was used in the 1972 movie The Harder They Come. The most well known version, perhaps, of the song was released by Euro-Caribbean group Boney M in 1978. The Rastafarian language was removed from the lyrics for this version.
