Composed by Irwin Levine and Lawrence Brown. Recorded by American pop music group Dawn for their studio album, Candida. The song is about a man who has fallen in love with a woman who lives in the apartment directly below him but he is not sure if she likes him so he asks her to respond by either knocking three times on the ceiling (yes) or banging twice on the pipe (no), with the chorus of the song including sound effects of the two choices. The song was featured in the 1995 coming-of-age film Now and Then.
