Composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Recorded by Elton John for his twenty-second studio album, Sleeping with the Past. The song was inspired by the Motown track Reach Out I’ll Be There by The Four Tops. When first released in 1989, Healing Hands peaked at No.45 in the UK. However, when it was released again in 1990 on a double A-side single with another Elton John song (Sacrifice), it gave him his first solo No.1 in that country and remained at the top of the Chart for five weeks. Bernie Taupin is an English lyricist, poet, and singer. He is best known for his long-term collaboration with Elton John, having written the lyrics for many of Elton’s songs.
As well as being a talented music artist, Elton John is also a philanthropist through his Aids Foundation charity. Find out more here: http://newyork.ejaf.org/about.
