Co-composers Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty provided backing vocals and played instruments for the song. Roy Orbison performed You Got It in public just once, seventeen days before his death, at the Diamond Festival Awards in Belgium. The song was posthumously released in the United Kingdom in early 1989. It reached No.1 in Belgium and the USA. Roy Orbison died on 6th December 1988 after suffering a heart attack.
