1975: Rhinestone Cowboy By Glenn Campbell

Composed and first recorded by American songwriter Larry Weiss in 1974 for his album, Black and Blue Suite. Glenn Campbell released his version of the song in 1975 which he recorded for his thirtieth album, Rhinestone Cowboy. Glenn Campbell first heard Larry Weiss’s version of the song on the radio in late 1974 and decided to learn it. He went to see record executive Al Coury at Capitol Records in the USA and told him about “a great new song”. Glenn Campbell’s Rhinestone Cowboy reached No.1 in multiple countries and was popular with both country and pop music fans alike. Genre: Country. Glenn Campbell was an American singer, guitarist, songwriter, television host, and actor. His career as an entertainer spanned in excess of fifty years. He died in 2017, aged 81.
