The music was selected by Thames Television in the United Kingdom as the theme tune for their Netherlands based detective series Van der Valk, though it was not composed specifically for the series. It was the first television theme tune to reach the top of the pop music singles chart in the United Kingdom, remaining at No.1 for four weeks. Genre: Orchestral. The composer (real name Jan Stoeckart) was a Dutch composer, conductor, trombonist and radio producer. He was born in Amsterdam in 1927 and died in 2017. He often used pseudonyms: Willy Faust, Peter Milray, Julius Steffaro, and Jack Trombey.
