1963: Be My Baby by The Ronettes

Composed by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. Recorded by The Ronettes. The song was released as a single and then included on their debut (and final) album, titled ‘Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica.’ Be My Baby (The Ronettes version) was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and was, in 2006, added to the United States National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. The National Recording Registry was founded in the year 2000 and is a list of sound recordings that “are culturally, historically or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States of America.” The song was featured in the 1987 film, Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze.
